Experienced Driller

Taylor Geotechnical is a geotechnical engineering firm located in Canmore, AB, focused on providing solutions for clients operating in mountainous environments. We provide high quality technical advice, drilling and geotechnical services for projects in Western Canada.
We are looking for an experienced driller with over 3 years experience with rock core and/or air rotary drilling. The suitable candidate will have the skills, knowledge, and/or certifications for drilling. The suitable candidate can be trained to operate and maintain our low hour Eijkelkamp SRS ML Drill, Core Drill, and air rotary drill.
Duties:
- Work safely in a construction site and promote a safe work environment adhering to safety policies and procedures including participation in safety meetings
- Be responsible for the set-up, repair & maintenance, and safe operation of all drilling-related equipment
- Ensure the safe and efficient drilling of holes by participating in continuous improvement with drill engineer
- Refuel drill and water pumps, run and maintain waterline
- Measure holes to make sure they are to designed depth
- Keep accurate records as required by company & clients
- Produce high quality samples for the use in advanced geotechnical analysis
- Practice good housekeeping in all work/shop locations
- Communication with the Engineers and Geologist on a daily basis
- Monitoring stock levels of supplies and equipment for operations
- Be a safety leader; abides by and sets expectations for safety and quality standards
Requirements:
- 3-5 years experience operating rock core drill OR air rotary drill.
- Additional experience sonic drilling considered an asset (preference to SRS and Eijkelkamp ), however we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Mechanical ability to troubleshoot equipment (certifications considered an asset)
- Have a valid Driver’s License and must provide a current Driver’s Abstract
- Flexibility with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed
- Must be able to communicate clearly with others
- Must be reliable, hardworking, and safety-oriented
- Must be a team player with a desire to learn, and enjoy working outdoors
- Keen observation skills with a desire to learn, excel, and advance while working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Positive attitude on site and in the workplace
- First Aid is required, and additional safety certificates are an asset

IMPORTANT! This is not a camp position. Workers will be required to relocate as the company is located in Canmore, Alberta, Canada. If commuting, must reside within a 100 km radius of Canmore, Alberta.
